Carving a Niche in the World of Art

Sculptor Greg Todd was born and raised in Goodland, Kansas, and from early on has been involved in some form of artistic endeavor. After majoring in art and receiving his degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, he taught high school art and began his own personal career as an artist. Initially Greg worked both in painting and sculpting; however, he soon found he could capture his ideas best by casting bronze using the centuries-old lost wax method. Therefore he has since focused in this medium.

Greg has gained national recognition through galleries and art shows depicting a variety of subject matter including wildlife and human figures. In God's creation–the world around us–Greg finds an infinite supply of subject matters.

“People always want to know where I get my inspiration,” he says. “I draw my ideas from my personal experiences and interests.” And Greg has a wide range of interests which include the outdoors and nature, as well as family. Wife Cheryl and two sons, Jonathan and Jeremy, have provided subject matter for Greg's creations over the years.

Greg has his art sculptures displayed both nationally and internationally, with permanent public installations in Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska and Florida. His sculptures have been included in New York's prestigious Allied Artists of America's annual exhibit. The list of galleries that show Greg's work as well as those who have purchased his sculptures reads like a Who's Who: Altermann & Morris Galleries, De Mott Galleries, future Hall-of-Fame baseball player Dale Murphy, former President Gerald Ford, Mr. Wayne Huizenga, owner of the Miami Dolphins, Jerry McMorris, CEO of the Colorado Rockies, and Thomas Shane of the Shane Diamond Import Company. Public pieces that have been installed include a larger-than-life Veteran's Memorial in Monmouth, Illinois, several pieces for the Moose Lodge International in Mooseheart, Illinois, a life-size piece at the United States Air Force Academy, and a life-size “More Than Words” at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Greg's newest piece entitled "Pocket Full of Trouble" reflects a young boy's relationship with his dogs and his delight as they discover nature together. The frogs involved in the discovery are less than enthusiastic over the boy's delight.
